About ValentineWish.com

Answer four questions about the person you are buying for and get seven specific gifts, each with the reason it suits them.

Who runs it

I'm Cupid, and this is a one-person site. There is no team, no office and no editorial board, which is why you will read "I" here rather than "we".

I built it because every gift guide I could find answered a question nobody asks. I did not need a list of the hundred best gifts. I needed to know what to buy for one particular person whose taste I already know, in a price range I had already decided on, without reading fifty paragraphs of filler to get there.

What it actually does

It narrows a catalogue of 2,223 products down to seven, using what you tell it about the recipient, and writes down why each one made the cut. The whole thing takes about a minute and needs no account, no email and no payment.

You can bookmark or share any set of results. The answers are in the address, so the page you get is a page you can send to someone else.

What it is not

I do not test these products. I have not used most of them and I never write as though I have. Nothing here is a review in the sense of someone having lived with the thing for a month.

The reasons attached to each pick are drafted by a language model from the product's own Amazon listing, constrained by code that rejects unsupported claims and advertising language. I think that is a useful thing to have built, and I would rather describe it precisely than call it something it isn't. The full method is here.

How it makes money

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy something through a link here, Amazon pays me a small commission and you pay exactly the same price you would have paid anyway.

Nobody pays to appear. There is no sponsored placement and no paid inclusion, and commission rates are not an input to the ranking — the code that ranks the picks does not know what any of them pay.

Getting hold of me

cupid@valentinewish.com, or the contact page. If a recommendation is wrong or a product should not be on the site, that is the fastest way to get it changed.
